Choosing Yourself Isn’t Selfish—It’s Self-Care
What Aphrodite taught me about strength, strategy, and joy
🌿 The Act of Choosing Yourself
There’s a certain kind of friend who only calls when their life is falling apart. You know the type—every conversation is about their drama, their needs, their emergencies. And because you care, you drop everything to show up.
But somewhere along the way, you realize: I’ve forgotten that I matter too.
That was me. Always the helper, always available, always putting others first. And while there’s beauty in being generous, there’s a shadow side too: self-abandonment.
Choosing yourself isn’t selfish. It’s self-care. And it’s one of the hardest lessons I had to learn.
🌸 The Turning Point
For me, the shift came when I decided I was strong enough on my own.
I didn’t need anyone to rescue me, fix me, or even validate me.
I stopped underestimating my own independence and capacity. And the moment I did? I felt lighter. I felt free.
🌿 Choosing Myself Today
These days, choosing myself looks different.
It isn’t always dramatic. Sometimes it’s as simple as giving myself permission not to tackle the to-do list, and instead… rest.
Because I deserve it.
Because my peace matters as much as my productivity.
🌸 What Aphrodite Teaches
In the Self-Care phase of the Goddess Method, Aphrodite reminds us: self-care isn’t selfish. It’s strategy.
Doing something that truly brings us joy, peace, or rest is a gift to ourselves—and it’s how we replenish our strength for everything else we’re called to do.
💌 An Invitation
If this resonates with you, I created the 7-Day Divorce Recovery Kit as a starting place for women who need permission to put themselves first again. It’s filled with gentle practices and prompts to remind you that your healing, your joy, and your self-care are sacred.
And I’d love to hear from you:
When was the last time you chose yourself—and what did it look like?
Let’s start the conversation. 💕
